A Healthy Pregnancy -Pregnancy Advice
Pregnancy Tips - Things to Do:
1. According to most pregnancy books, perhaps the best pregnancy advice is to visit and listen to your doctor. Don't miss appointments. Proper prenatal care is likely the best of all pregnancy tips.
2. You should talk to your doctor about taking a multivitamin daily with 400mg of folic acid. Folic acid is important BEFORE pregnancy and during the first trimester in order to help prevent birth defects. The multivitamin helps throughout the pregnancy.
3. A big pregnancy tip is to drink lots of water. You should have six to eight glasses of water a day. If your urine is clear you're drinking enough water.
4. Eat well balanced meals. Pregnancy nutrition is very important.
5. Allow yourself to gain the right amount of weight. Many pregnancy books stress this.
6. Some good pregnancy advice is to get help managing your stress level if needed. Talk to your partner or children, get them to help out around the house more. Talk to your employer if needed too.
7. Take a childbirth class with your partner. Learn about babies and childbirth and get other pregnancy tips. You may also end up meeting some couples for future play dates. Meeting other expecting mothers will help you get the emotional support you will need once your baby is born.
8. Take it easy on yourself. Don't try to do everything. Perhaps the best pregnancy advice of all is to relax, allow nature to do what nature does, be good to yourself, and enjoy it. You're having a baby!
9. Get lots of sleep. By the way resting on your left side has been shown to provide the best circulation to your baby and may help reduce any swelling you are experiencing.
10. Read pregnancy books. Knowledge will bring you comfort and help you to be ready.
Pregnancy Tips - Things to Avoid
1. Smoking. Second hand smoke is also bad for you and the baby. It should be avoided. Some pregnancy books say that smoking may contribute to low birth weight babies.
2. Alcohol. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is preventable by not drinking alcohol while you're pregnant this is great pregnancy advice.
3. Caffeine. It's in more than just coffee, you'll find it in many products where you wouldn't expect it.
4. X-rays. If you need an X-Ray tell your doctor or dentist that you are pregnant so precautions can be taken.
5. A good pregnancy tip is to avoid undercooked meat and cat litter. They both may contain a certain bacteria that may hurt your baby. You should avoid them. You should also wear gloves when gardening for the same reason.
6. Saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs. The heat can be harmful.
